Convert HEIC to WebP Online
Convert iPhone HEIC photos straight to WebP, the smallest format the web actually supports. Bulk upload supported, files never stored.
Start ConvertingWhy Convert HEIC to WebP?
Stays small
HEIC is compact because it uses HEVC. Converting to JPG can double the size; WebP keeps most of that efficiency.
Actually works on the web
No browser renders HEIC in a plain <img> tag. WebP works in every browser shipped since 2020.
Skips the JPG middle step
Going HEIC to JPG to WebP compresses twice and loses more. Converting once goes straight to the format you need.
Keeps orientation right
iPhone photos carry rotation in metadata. The orientation is applied during conversion so images are not sideways.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I not just upload the HEIC to my website?
No browser decodes HEIC in an <img> tag, not even Safari. Visitors would see a broken image. It has to be converted before it goes on a page.
How much bigger will the WebP be?
Expect roughly 1.2 to 1.6 times the HEIC for a typical iPhone photo. Converting the same photo to JPG usually lands closer to 2 times.
Does this conversion run on the server?
Yes. HEIC decoding is not available in browsers, so these files are uploaded, converted in memory, and discarded immediately. They count toward the 20 per day limit.
Is Live Photo motion preserved?
No. Only the still frame converts. The paired video component of a Live Photo is not part of the HEIC file being uploaded.
