The short version
Most image conversions finish in your browser and are never uploaded. Everything else is uploaded, held in memory, converted, returned and discarded. No file is written to disk, and there is no account to attach anything to.
What gets uploaded
JPG, PNG, WEBP and SVG going to JPG, PNG or WEBP are converted by your own browser and never leave the tab. HEIC and HEIF, Word documents, every PDF output, every GIF output, and all compression are sent to our server. Which half a file is in is stated on its own row in the tool, before you start.
File processing
Files that do reach us are processed in memory and discarded immediately after conversion. We do not store, log, or inspect them. No copies are saved to disk beyond the temporary buffers a document conversion needs, which are deleted the moment your download begins.
Compression previews
The estimated size and the before-and-after preview on the compress tab are generated entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. The original file is only sent to the server when you press Compress.
Advertising and cookies
This site is funded by Google AdSense, which may set cookies and use them to serve and measure advertising based on your prior visits to this and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, and you can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. We set one cookie of our own, and only if you are the site owner lifting the daily limit. There is no analytics on this site: no cross-site tracker, no session recording and no fingerprinting script.
Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
Visitors in those regions are shown a consent message before any non-essential cookie is set, and can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer. Declining means ads are served without personalisation. It does not restrict a single converter feature, and there is no version of this site that asks you to accept tracking to use the tool.
Your rights
Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis for the request metadata below is our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and secure, and non-essential cookies are set only with consent. Where the CCPA applies, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there, and we do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13. You can ask what data is associated with you, ask for it to be deleted, or object to the processing, by writing to the address at the bottom of this page. Because there is no account and no file is retained, in most cases the only record that exists is a rate-limit count that expires on its own within a day.
Local storage
Your theme choice and your running count of server conversions are kept in your browser's localStorage. Both stay on your device, are never sent to us, and the count resets each day.
Rate limiting and server logs
To keep the service free we count uploads per IP address, 20 a day, shared across converting and compressing. That count is the only thing we store about a request, it holds nothing but a number, and it expires within 24 hours. Separately, our host writes standard HTTP request metadata to its own access logs and rotates them on its own schedule. We do not set that schedule, do not copy those logs anywhere, and they are not linked to any uploaded content. Rather than quote a retention window we do not control, the honest statement is that the only record with a window we can promise is the daily counter above.
The feedback form
Sending a message through the feedback form posts what you typed to FormSubmit, a third-party form relay, which emails it to contact@kodeelite.com and does not pass it anywhere else. That is the category you picked, your message, and your email address if you chose to give one. The email field is optional and exists only so a reply can reach you. Nothing from the form is written to this site, there is no mailing list to be added to, and no file is ever attached: if a conversion failed, describe it rather than sending it.
Third parties
Apart from Google AdSense as described above, and the form service that carries a message you send through the feedback form, no data is shared with anyone: no social trackers, no data brokers.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes appear on this page with an updated date.
